What needs attention
Opening a partition near common services. A partition may contain services whose responsibility is different from the room finish. What is known about the cavity, and who will approve further access if shared components are encountered?

A partition may involve more than its surface finish
Existing plans or management records can explain possible services in a partition without proving their current condition. State what is known and what remains concealed. A visible wall finding is not authority to disturb shared components, and a room-cleanup boundary should not silently become mechanical or structural work.
Decide how a shared finding changes approval
Before removal, identify who approves the initial material boundary and who must be consulted if common services are encountered. The change record should distinguish newly assessed material from an assumption in the original quote. Rebuilding the wall and any required work on the encountered component need named responsibilities.
Access for the affected space
For a shared building, establish the unit number, management contact and permission for any common component. An individual room stain does not settle responsibility for a shared roof or mechanical system. For material removal, agree the additional-work approval process and name the trade responsible for rebuilding.
