What needs attention
Artwork is stored beside a suspect surface. Artwork needs a conservation decision rather than a general cleaning promise. Which specialist should assess it before cleaning, packaging or transport is approved?

Artwork needs a conservation question of its own
Artwork stored near a suspect surface should be identified by material, known exposure and ownership before a general contents instruction is accepted. Proximity does not establish the condition of the whole piece. Do not brush, unframe or package suspect material to prepare evidence for a call.
Choose specialist advice before treatment or transport
Ask whether an appropriate conservator should evaluate the piece and explain the limits of any recommendation. Owner approval should cover cleaning, movement and any irreversible action separately. A room-cleanup agreement is not a guarantee that every artwork can be restored, nor permission to dispose of valuable contents without an item-specific decision.
Access for the affected space
If finishes or belongings need specialist handling, identify them before access or removal is authorized. Their value does not change the need for an evidence-based moisture finding. For contents, record the owner of each item and identify any specialist handling that needs separate authorization.
