Post-cleanup verification in Naples, FL

Define completion before cleanup begins. A useful review describes the agreed work, the corrected moisture condition and any limitations that remain.

Decide who will perform the review

Ask whether the completion assessment is performed by the cleaning business, a separate assessor or another appropriately qualified person. Florida regulates mold assessment and remediation; use official DBPR resources to review the roles and the applicable arrangement.

Request the reviewer’s name, role, proposed criteria and report format. A verbal “all clear” without those details is difficult to compare with the original scope.

Set criteria that answer the actual project question

Ask which rooms and materials will be assessed, which observations matter and whether any sampling has a specific purpose. EPA states that federal mold-spore limits have not been set; a number alone should not be described as compliance with a federal indoor threshold.

A report should separate the observed result from assumptions about concealed spaces. Request a record of uninspected areas, unfinished source repairs and anything that still needs investigation.

Choose the timing before finishes hide the work

Agree how the review relates to containment removal, new insulation, wall closure, painting and return of contents. A later finished-room photograph cannot show what happened inside a cavity.

If the moisture source remains uncertain or an affected component was inaccessible, ask how that limitation changes the completion decision. Determine who addresses it rather than silently transferring it to the rebuilding trade.

Keep the result within its limits

EPA explains that eliminating all indoor mold spores is not possible. Avoid treating completion of a specified scope as a promise that no future moisture problem or growth can occur.

Keep the original findings, approved changes, source-repair record and completion report together. These records help explain the work if a stain or odor returns and another professional needs to review the history.
